Star Power - The Sunday Times HOME
With its Art Deco-inspired interiors and lavish proportions, the Harlow by Broadway Homes proves luxury doesn’t have to cost squillions. Priced at just under $550,000, this family-sized Iluka display homes exudes 1920s Hollywood glamour with contemporary twist. “From the outset, the design brief for the Harlow was an Art Deco-inspired home of luxury proportions combined with free-flowing ease, comfort and the all-important affordability factor, Peter Gobetti, sales and marketing manager at Broadway Homes, says. “Architectural trends, we believe, go hand in hand with global fashion, car and movie trends – they follow and inspire each other.
“The recent revival of Art Deco comes with the release of The Great Gatsby movie.” The largest home in Broadway’s star-studded design collection the four-bedroom, three-bathroom Harlow is ideal for families who want space in which to stretch and grow. It’s also been designed to impress, with the media room, master bedroom, the ensuite and the void in the entry hallway featuring details such as recessed ceilings, bulkheads and lighting troughs. “The ceiling and cornice detail throughout really created a feeling of space, character and grandeur” Peter says. Stretching across the back of the house the kitchen and open-plan living and dining area makes the most of a view of the pool, while the alfresco area has dedicated space for an outdoor kitchen.
Reflecting 1920s glamour, the kitchen featured cabinets, which have been teamed with a black stone square-edge worktop extending into a waterfall-end panel. On the ground floor there’s a guest bedroom with its own ensuite, while the sumptuous master suite and two more double bedrooms are on the upper floor, along with a large second sitting room. The Home’s Art Deco theme is evident from the street, with layers of classic panels highlighted by a two-tone colour scheme. While designed for a traditional lot, the versatile Harlow can easily be adapted to suit a variety of different block width and sized. Alternative elevations are also available, with accents on cubist and contemporary styles. Versions of the Harlow start at $425,381.Enquire
