Art Deco Verve and Glamour

The Weekend West 10th May 2014

The sultry platinum blonde of the Art Deco 1930’s, Jean Harlow, is among the stars in Broadway Homes’ galaxy of big names. Reflecting the actress’ trademark style and glamour, the Harlow display home has dramatic design touches throughout. Broadway Homes sales and marketing manager Peter Gobetti said the design brief was for an Art Deco-inspired home of luxury proportions combined with free-flowing ease, comfort and affordability. “This home is well suited to a growing family, with four generous- sized bedrooms and three bathrooms and ample space for relaxed living.”

A generous portico with double glass-and-timber entry doors, opens to a grand entry hall incorporating the staircase and displaying the intricate ceiling and cornice details which are featured throughout. Adding character and grandeur. A void that extends up past the second storey has a recessed ceiling with light through and is mirrored by a bulkhead with light through to the media room, which is accessed via double doors from the entry hall. Also at the front of the home is a study, a shopper’s entry to the double garage with store, and guest bedroom.

This room has a built-in robe and separate ensuite, as well as a door to a dual-access powder room. At the back is the open-plan living area, where the 30-course ceilings continue, combining with floor-to-ceiling windows, the alfresco area has a built-in nook for an outdoor kitchen and connects to the living area with stacker doors. The glamorous kitchen, at the far end of the living area, has sleek, high-gloss lines, a stone island bench with waterfall ends and plenty of storage, with overhead cupboards, pot drawers and triple-door pantry. There is a separate door from the kitchen to the alfresco area.

The main suite and two double-sized children’s bedrooms are upstairs, along with a big sitting room. There is also a bathroom with bath and separate powder room. The main suite is one in which Harlow would have been quite at home, with its space and features.

The luxurious ensuite is a marvel of black and white, with white twin basins in black cabinetry, a freestanding white bath surrounding by dark tiles, built-in shower and separate toilet. The Harlow has a living area of 340sqm, a total area of 391sqm and requires a 15.5m frontage. The Harlow Ltd is available from $404,788.
